Where can I go to get a free Flu Shot?

and when is the best time to get one?

Answer

Ask your health care provider about the flu vaccine. Most insurance plans, including Medicaid, pay for the vaccine.

  • Visit your nearest pharmacy (Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS) — many offer flu vaccines to adults and some may vaccinate children as young as two years old.
  • Check if your workplace offers the vaccine.
  • Visit New York City Health + Hospitals. These locations give free or low-cost flu vaccines to all patients and visitors.
FIND NEAREST LOCATION ON THE  NYC VACCINE FINDER and click the CENTER TAB for Flu Vaccine.

When is Flu Season and when should I get vaccinated?

  • Early Fall is generally the best time of year to get your annual flu vaccination. Ideally by the end of October.
  • Typically, flu season begins in the fall. Flu activity usually peaks between December and February and significant activity can continue into May.
The CDC says it’s safe to receive more than one vaccine at the same time. Stay up to date with routine vaccines to help protect against COVID, shingles, pneumonia, RSV, whooping cough and more.
