I need help with Overdrive / Libby. Where do I find that?
What devices work with it, can I renew my ebooks, how do I download the Libby app? So many questions!
Answer
Overview
Overdrive has one of the largest collections of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and eVideos. To access this digital collection you will need a library card number and PIN, a compatible device, and the Libby App or compatible web browser.
In addition to eBooks and eAudiobooks (which you can also get from Boundless), you can also access eMagazines and eVideos. Here's a video highlighting eMagazines on the Libby App. You can browse all these formats by clicking on Collections from the main page of Overdrive. Read-Along Books are also available on Overdrive.
Features
Most items can be checked out for 7 or 14 days; Videos can only be checked out for 3 or 5 days. You can also renew many of the items 3 days before they are due, or request them again if renewing is not an option. And when your hold is ready, you now have the option to have it delivered later if you’re not ready to read it.
There are limits on Checkouts: 30 and Holds: 20 at any one time. You can return books early. However, all Overdrive loans are automatically returned on their due dates.
Another nice feature, is that you can recommend titles; just look for the “Didn't find what you're looking for?” at the bottom of your search results. When you find a book you want to recommend, simply click Recommend. You can recommend up to 3 titles every 30 days.
Hosting a book club? Under eBooks, choose from the three categories that allow unlimited downloads:
