Queens Public Library is once again offering FREE in-person tax counseling sessions for New Yorkers at several QPL locations from February 1 - April 15.
During these sessions, professionals from our partner organizations (AARP Foundation; NY State Department of Taxation and Finance; and Urban Upbound) will help you prepare (and in many cases e-file) your tax returns.

Note: When you book appointment with NYS Dept. of Taxation & Finance, the top of their page indicates that tax help is Virtual, but it's actually "In Person." Scroll down to where it says "TAP Queens Public Library" and fill out the appointment request.
The following essential documents are required to prepare your taxes, and must be brought to any in-person tax counseling session. Please read our Tax Help Brochure to learn about any additional documents that may apply to you.
- Government issued picture ID
- Driver’s or non-driver’s license required for NY State tax return
- Social Security cards or ITIN documents for everyone listed on your tax return
- Copy of last year’s tax return (if you filed)

Q: Does the library have paper copies of Tax Forms and Instruction Booklets?
The 2023 1040 and 1040SR Federal Tax Forms and Instructions have arrived at the Central Library and are on the tables located near the Immigration Corner to the right of the front doors of the library.
We also received the following 2023 New York State (NYS) Tax Forms and Instructions:
IT-201, IT-201-V, IT-213, IT-214, IT-215, IT-216, and IT-225
If you need other forms printed out, you can request these from your local librarians, within reason (for example, Instructions cannot be printed due to their size). Or, with a valid library card, you can sign up for a PC to print 20 pages at the Cyber Center.
