What is the idNYC?

About IDNYC

IDNYC is a card for all New Yorkers, from all backgrounds, and from all five boroughs. Your immigration status does not matter. The free, municipal identification card for New York City residents, ages 10 and up, provides access to a wide variety of services and programs offered by the City. IDNYC cardholders enjoy benefits and discounts offered by businesses and cultural institutions across the five boroughs.

Getting Your IDNYC Card

Make an appointment (Currently requiring appointments--no walk ins). Here you can make, reschedule, or cancel your appointment.

Confirm you have the correct documents to apply. The IDNYC program uses a point system to determine if applicants are able to prove identity and residency in New York City. To determine what documents you can submit, use the IDNYC Document Calculator

The process takes about 20 minutes.  When you visit an enrollment center, you will be asked to submit your application and documents proving identity and residency. Your photo will be taken and will be included on the card. All of your original documents will be returned to you immediately.  Your IDNYC card will be mailed to your home in 10-14 business days.

The Application Materials and Benefits Guide are available in multiple languages.

You can renew and make changes to your account online through the IdNYC Member Portal.
