Young Adult Learning Services (YALS) at Queens Public Library

For students, ages 16-24, Young Adult Learning Services (YALS) is an easy, direct, and FREE path to obtaining a High School Equivalency diploma.

YALS offers:

  • Four days of classes per week
  • Plus, one day for case management and job-related workshops
  • Free access to computers, books, audio and video materials
  • Free transportation with a complimentary Metro Card
  • Small tutorial groups for reading, writing, and math
  • Independent study options using computer software, audio, and other multimedia available at QPL
  • Stipends, field trips, and additional incentives
  • Workshops for job readiness and leadership skills
  • Referrals for internships and employment
  • Individualized attention from supportive, caring instructors and case managers

This program is available at the following locations:

  • Central Library (89-11 Merrick Boulevard)
  • Far Rockaway Teen Library (2002 Cornaga Avenue)
  • Long Island City (37-44 21 Street)
